Constant Heartburn – My Story

Hey! I’m Liane!

If you have found my website it means that you are probably desperately and hopelessly looking for a treatment for constant heartburn.

A few months back I was visiting my mother who I haven’t seen for 2 years. But I was almost shocked to see her as I could barely recognize her. I knew she suffered from constant heartburn for the past 4-5 years but I would have never imagined what it could do to her. She eventually told me what was happening.

She tried all the possible methods for treating heartburn; she’s been through countless diets for heartburn; her bathroom cabinet was filled up with all kinds of medicine for each and every possible symptom or probable cause. She didn’t know the exact cause of her heartburn or how to avoid heartburn anymore; everything she had tried made her feel better for a while and then heartburn came back again more and more complicated each time. What can I say? She was a wreck!

I said to myself that it was impossible not to find a permanent cure. Therefore I started to look myself for treatments and diets and all type of information. Everything that I would have found, she had already tried. I was getting now desperate when I stumbled upon this site. I read it patiently and I was amazed by how accurately Jeff presented the torments of someone suffering from heartburn and how he understood the difficulty to treat it permanently.

You are probably aware that the main problem in treating heartburn is that it may have more than one probable cause. Generally, medication can treat one cause but the rest of them remain untreated and heartburn is coming back again triggering more and more complication every time. But this approach was totally different.

What I most appreciated about this method is that it approaches heartburn holistically which means that it will treat each and every aspect of the disease and, on the long term, it means that none of the symptoms will be back again shortly after treatment as it happened before.

Click here to discover how it works…

There is one aspect I didn’t like though and it is in the way that you get hold of this treating method. You have to read so much until you finally get to the bottom of the problem! My mother would have never finished reading all by herself!

But there are some very extraordinary things about this method of curing permanently constant heartburn. First of all no drugs are involved then you don’t have to go through any risky surgery to fix your problems and of course there are no side effects. Regardless of how severe your heartburn has become-Hiatal hernia, GERD, Gastritis, Esophageal Reflux or Bile Reflux-they can all be cured in a few weeks and you will never have to face them again.

Well, my mother’s life was so positively influenced by this experience and in so many ways that words are not enough to express my gratitude. Practically, not only that my mother doesn’t suffer any more from any constant heartburn but now she is healthier than she ever was before and a lot lighter and most of all happier. Perhaps you shouldn’t just believe me, but you can try it for yourself!

What Causes Heartburn

In order to have a clearer picture of what causes heartburn you need to understand how the human body functions in that particular area. The esophagus is a tube that is serving as a conduit for food from the mouth to the stomach. By its contractions food gets into your stomach. Once the food is inside the stomach, the esophagus closes automatically using the Lower Esophagus Sphincter, a valve better known as the LES muscle. The LES muscle is a high pressure valve situated at the very bottom of the esophagus just where it intersects the upper part of the stomach. The LES muscles weaken at one point or another and they cannot close perfectly anymore; therefore the food, acid and bile are now allowed to back up from the stomach into the esophagus. And this is what causes constant heartburn, that burning pain and absolute discomfort that you feel just above your stomach.

Foods That Cause Heartburn

What I can tell you from my own experience is that the foods that cause heartburn can be different from one person to another. What you eat determines a certain response from your body, distinct for each individual. It is especially important when we eat and how much we eat. Therefore, my companions in pain, I can only hope that I managed to put together some general categories of foods which could cause heartburn.

Constant heartburn may be caused either by foods that relax the LES muscle allowing stomach contents to go back into the esophagus or by foods that cause acid reflux and heartburn. Determining exactly what the foods that cause heartburn are could be the first step in order to avoid heartburn or even control it.

Foods that relax the LES muscle

Amazingly there are foods that manage somehow to relax the valve that controls the closing of the esophagus commonly known as the LES muscle. Such relaxation produces an uncomfortable feeling and burning sensation that we call heartburn. These foods are mainly the ones that we would qualify as very high fat aliments.  Such fats could be found in:

  • Meat products
    o       fried meat
    o       pork meat
    o       greasy cooked meat
  • Dairy products
    o       whole-milk products
    o       butter
  • Vegetal products
    o       margarine
    o       oil
  • Mixed products
    o       creamy dressings
    o       mayonnaise
    o       chocolate
    o       peppermint

Foods that may cause acid reflux

These are mainly beverages:

  • Coffin based drinks
    o      soft drinks
    o      tea
    o      coffee
    o      cocoa based drinks
  • Carbonated drinks
  • Citrus fruits or juices because they contain a high level of citrus acid
    o       oranges
    o       lemons
    o      grapefruits
  • Tomatoes or tomato juice
  • Alcohol is also a probable cause of constant heartburn
  • Spicy foods, black pepper especially

As you may have well noticed for yourself the foods that cause heartburn are bad for your health simply by what they are. The damage that they do extends well beyond the effects of heartburn. You should not forget that heartburn control is possible if you avoid partially or totally the foods that I’ve mentioned but also if you pay attention to how you prepare your food and how you eat it.

Constant Heartburn – How to Prevent It

If you have finally ended up reading the contents of my site it is probably because you are struggling with the effects of constant heartburn for some time now and you are quite tired of not finding any solution to your problem. My mother has been there! Read on and you will discover step by step how I could help you resolve your heartburn problems.

Heartburn can be exacerbated by the way that you live your life. If you want to prevent, diminish and treat the heartburn symptoms you must be ready to make some changes in your current lifestyle. Accordingly you may have to revise the habits that you have developed related to most of your day-to-day activities. Many habits should be completely excluded, others may have to be slightly altered or new one must be created.

Bad Eating and Drinking Habits

As far as your eating rituals are concerned you may be aware that overweight is an important cause of constant heartburn therefore you should lose weight immediately.

Heartburn in pregnancy is also a condition that could be avoided if you don’t gain so much weight during your pregnancy.

But any person can suffer from the effects of heartburn; just as well you could prevent it from getting worse if you respect some very simple and easy to follow rules; try to have your last meal at least 3 hours before going to bed. Also try to eat smaller portions of food throughout the entire day.

All the foods that upset your stomach should be avoided anyway but, if you can’t help it, at least try not to eat such foods very late at night.

Yogurt is a product that may function as a balm for your stomach and is one food that is recommended in order to diminish the symptoms of heartburn.

Reflex habits like sucking a candy or chewing peppermint gum should be replaced with other similar but positive habits like sucking a anti-acid tablet or chewing non-mint gum.

Smoking is another thing that is standing out of the list of habits that should be eliminated unconditionally.

Alcohol has the capacity to inflict extraordinary and irrecoverable damage to your health. Cutting back on alcohol could help you prevent acid reflux and heartburn.

Exercising after a Meal

People have the tendency to rest after a meal which is not at all advisable. On the contrary a short walk after you have eaten is beneficial for you in general and it can also help heartburn control.  A walk is indeed very helpful to you after a meal but any other type of sports that involve bending over from the waist down after you have eaten can only increase heartburn symptoms.

Overnight Heartburn

You have probably wondered why you feel that burning pain more frequently during the night. The cause for that is the fact that heartburn is accentuated by the position that you normally sleep in. You need to raise the head of your bad 46 inches or try to sleep on your left side if that is possible. Incredible as it may seem tight clothing can put high pressure on your stomach causing the LES muscle to open and release food into the esophagus. If they are not imperative, don’t wear them.

I hope that I’ve managed to give you some useful information until now you about constant heartburn and perhaps even help you a little dealing with your condition.
